The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in 1969 with the objective of establishing a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. Guided by the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, who believed that true national development depends on socially responsible youth, NSS aims at developing students’ personalities through community service. The motto of NSS is “Not Me But You.”
The fundamental principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by students themselves. Through active participation in community service, both students and teachers gain a deep sense of involvement in the process of nation building.
NSS provides students opportunities to:
Build meaningful interaction with society
Understand and practice the dignity of labour
Develop leadership skills and personality
Enhance cultural, social, and artistic talents
Cultivate teamwork and social responsibility
Students, teachers, and the community together form the three core pillars of the National Service Scheme.
The Diploma stream of KMCT Institute of Technology and Management currently has two NSS units:

Each unit consists of 100 active volunteers and functions under the NSS Technical Cell. The Programme Coordinator appoints Programme Officers for each unit as recommended by the Principal.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) plays a significant role in shaping socially responsible and service-oriented students through active community engagement. It acts as a bridge between the campus and society, enabling students to understand real-life social issues and contribute meaningfully towards their solution.
NSS organizes various community development programmes, environmental initiatives, health and awareness campaigns, and special camps that promote civic responsibility and social commitment. Through these activities, students develop leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline, and a spirit of voluntary service.
By upholding the motto “Not Me But You,” NSS instills values of empathy, cooperation, and national integration, guiding students to become responsible citizens dedicated to the welfare and progress of society.
